What is StorageFinder?▾
StorageFinder is Australia's marketplace for vehicle, equipment, and general storage. We connect people who need storage with property owners who have spare space: yards, garages, sheds, driveways, and commercial lots. It's peer-to-peer, so you deal directly with verified hosts.
Is it free to use?▾
Searching and browsing is free, no account required. For hosts, listing a space is completely free. We charge a service fee on completed bookings to keep the platform running. No sign-up fees, no hidden charges.
What areas do you cover?▾
All of Australia. We have listings in every state and territory, with coverage growing across metro, regional, and rural areas. Use the search to find spaces near you.
For Storers
How do I book storage?▾
Search for spaces near you, pick one that fits, and submit a booking request with payment. The host only sees your request after payment is confirmed. They have 72 hours to approve or decline. If they decline (or don't respond), you get a full refund. If the listing has instant book, your booking is confirmed immediately after payment.
What types of vehicles/items can I store?▾
Trucks, trailers, caravans, motorhomes, boats, cars, machinery, containers, and general items. Each listing shows exactly what vehicle types and sizes are accepted.
Can I negotiate the price?▾
Yes. You can send a custom offer when booking if you have specific requirements, like multiple vehicles, longer terms, or different timing. The host can accept, decline, or counter.
Can I cancel a booking?▾
Yes. Each listing has a cancellation policy (flexible, moderate, or strict) shown before you book. You can cancel from your bookings page. Refund eligibility depends on the host's cancellation policy and how far in advance you cancel.
What if the space isn't as described?▾
Contact the host through our messaging system first. If you can't resolve it directly within 14 days, you can request platform-facilitated mediation from your booking page. Our team aims to acknowledge and begin investigating disputes within 48 hours. Resolution timeframes depend on the complexity of the dispute.
How are payments handled?▾
All payments go through Stripe, one of the world's largest payment platforms. Your card details are never stored on our servers. You can pay per booking or set up monthly recurring payments for long-term storage.
For Hosts
How do I list my space?▾
Sign up, choose whether you're listing as a private individual or business, then create a listing. Add your location, what you can fit, some photos, and your price. Our team reviews listings within 24 hours.
What do I need to get started?▾
A space that's suitable for vehicle or equipment storage, a few photos, and a bank account for payouts. If you're a business, we'll ask for your ABN. That's it.
How do I get paid?▾
Connect your bank account via Stripe (takes 2 minutes). When a storer pays for a booking, your payout is automatically transferred after check-in. Funds typically arrive within 2-5 business days, depending on your bank and payment processing times.
What's the platform fee?▾
15% of each booking. There are no listing fees, no monthly fees, and no sign-up fees. You only pay when you earn. The fee covers payment processing, trust and safety features, verification services, dispute resolution, and platform maintenance.
Do I have to accept every booking?▾
No. You choose which bookings to accept. You only see requests after the storer has paid, so every request is backed by a confirmed payment. Approve or decline within 72 hours, if you decline, the storer is automatically refunded. You can also enable Instant Booking to skip the approval step entirely.
What about insurance?▾
We recommend both hosts and storers maintain appropriate insurance. StorageFinder does not provide, arrange, or recommend specific insurance products. Check our insurance guide for general information. Coverage varies by policy and insurer. Contact your insurer to confirm your specific coverage.
Trust & Verification
How do you verify users?▾
We offer multi-level verification: email verification, phone verification, and identity document checks (KYC). Users who complete all three earn the Verified Member badge. You can see verification status on every profile.
What is a Verified Member?▾
A Verified Member is a user who has verified their email, phone number, and identity. It's our top trust tier. Look for the green badge on profiles and listings.
How do reviews work?▾
After a booking completes, both the host and storer can leave a review. Reviews include a 1-5 star rating and a written comment. All reviews are public and help the community make informed decisions.
What is Booking Support?▾
Booking Support is a discretionary goodwill commitment included with every booking. If damage or theft is verified during your booking period, we may reimburse up to AUD $1,000 of your documented out-of-pocket costs. It's not insurance, it's a platform commitment to support both hosts and storers when things go wrong.
How do I submit a Booking Support request?▾
Contact us at support@storagefinder.com.au within 30 days of the incident. Include: what happened, when it happened, photos or evidence of damage, and any receipts for out-of-pocket costs. We review every request individually and respond within 14 business days.
Is Booking Support insurance?▾
No. Booking Support is a discretionary goodwill reimbursement, not insurance. It does not replace your own insurance policy. We strongly recommend maintaining comprehensive coverage for any items or vehicles you store. StorageFinder Pty Ltd. This is not a financial product under the Corporations Act 2001.
What isn't covered by Booking Support?▾
Booking Support doesn't cover wear and tear, gradual deterioration (rust, mould, vermin), pre-existing damage, damage outside the booking period, items not disclosed at booking, or events beyond anyone's control (natural disaster, civil unrest). It also doesn't cover situations where your own insurance has already fully reimbursed you.
Payments & GST
Is GST included in prices?▾
If a host is registered for GST, the prices shown on their listings include GST. Hosts who are not registered for GST do not charge GST. The GST treatment depends on each host's individual tax registration status. If your total GST turnover (from storage and all other business activities) exceeds $75,000, you must register for GST. Consult the ATO or a tax professional for guidance specific to your situation.
What payment methods do you accept?▾
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through Stripe. Apple Pay and Google Pay are also supported where available.
What happens if a payment fails?▾
If payment fails during checkout, the booking stays in a pending state and you can try again with a different payment method. If you're on a recurring monthly plan and a renewal payment fails, the booking is marked as overdue until payment is resolved.
